During this 4-Week beginners group course, you and your dog will learn the foundations of loose lead walking and reliable recall, so you can safely enjoy your dog walks - on or off-lead!

This course is held in an outdoor setting in a small group, so you will have 1-1 assistance, and the opportunity to practice in real life situations.

This 4-week beginners course is designed to teach you and your dog foundation loose lead and recall skills, so you can safely enjoy your dog walks.

During this course you will learn:

How to choose walking gear, and safe and effective leash handling skills
Why dogs pull on lead, why walks are important for our dogs, and how to make walks more enjoyable for you and your dog
How to develop communication and engagement between your dog, so you are on the same page during your walks
How to use rewards, variable reinforcement, and pattern games to teach your dog how to walk nicely on lead (without pulling)
How to prevent your dog from pulling on lead, and what to do if they do pull.
How to teach an effective, reliable recall

This course is suitable for:

Dogs aged 6 months or older
Dogs who are comfortable and confident working around other dogs, with reasonable distance. This class is not suitable for reactive dogs - reach out to us for 1-1 training for your reactive dog.
Beginners who would like to teach their young dogs how to walk nicely on lead and respond to recall, or need help for their dogs who already have a habit of pulling on lead or ignoring you on walks.

Please bring:

Your dog!
A basic flat lead - preferably 1.2-1.8 meters in length. Please no flexi-leads, retractable leads or bungee leads
A flat collar or a harness
A treat pouch full of high value treats - I recommend Prime-100 dog roll which you can purchase from Petstock or Petbarn. Cooked chicken breast, cheese, or liver pieces are also a good option. Bring more treats than you think you need!
A long lead if you have one! 5-10 meters is preferable
